Actress and singer Selena Gomez has surpassed Kylie Jenner as the woman with the most followers on Instagram, with over 381 million fans to date. This marks a milestone for Selena, as Jenner is one of the most active influencers on social media.

Selena recently told Vanity Fair that she only has TikTok on her phone because “there are wonderful things on social media: connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories.”

Selena also said she decided to take a break from social media after going through a difficult time in a breakup and receiving cruel and detailed comments.

“People can call me ugly or stupid and I say, whatever. But these people get into detail,” she said. “They write very specific and cruel paragraphs. I cried constantly. I had constant anxiety… I couldn’t keep doing it. It was a waste of time,” she explained.

Despite her decision to step back from social media, Gomez remains very popular on Instagram, proving that it is not necessary to be constantly present on social media to be successful.

Gomez added, “There are wonderful things on social media, but there are also negative aspects, and it is important to find a balance and establish healthy boundaries for oneself.”

At the time of writing, Selena Gomez has 381,996,653 followers on Instagram, surpassing Kylie’s 380,347,189. Kylie is a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family and has also become famous for her participation in the reality show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”

She is also the founder and owner of Kylie Cosmetics, a makeup product line that she launched in 2015. In 2019, Forbes named Jenner the “youngest self-made billionaire” due to her business success with Kylie Cosmetics.
