Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime lost 7-6 (4), 6-4 to Lorenzo Sonego of Italy in the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Wednesday.
The fourth-seeded Auger-Aliassime, from Montreal, didn’t have one break-point opportunity against the world No. 67 at the ATP Tour 500 event.
Sonego won a hefty 89 per cent of his points when he got his first serve in.
The Italian also had much more success getting his first serve in — 79 per cent as compared to 49 per cent for the Canadian.
It was a surprising early exit for Auger-Aliassime, who had gone to the quarterfinals and semifinals at his past two events.
