Onana Demands More Respect to Be Shown Inter’s Way

Despite losing their ground in Serie A, Inter march on in the UEFA Champions League after a narrow aggregate win over Porto. The Nerazzurri are one of the three Italian teams left in the tournament, and goalkeeper Andre Onana has demanded more respect for his side following their journey from a tough group.

Inter have a busy April coming up, with everything to play for – Coppa Italia, the UCL and Serie A, and the former Ajax shotstopper backed his teammates to enter the month head-on, without fear.

“You must always play without fear. If there is fear, it is better not to take the field. A difficult month awaits us, but we train every day to play matches like those against Juve and the Benfica. We need to train well and I am convinced that if we work well, it will be a month full of satisfactions,” he said to SportMediaset (via FCInterNews).

Onana has played a key role in keeping an impressive 8 clean sheets in their last 10 matches across all competitions, but remained humble when claiming his side’s defensive success.

“It means that the defense is doing its job very well. You can also save a lot, but if you don’t go through, the The group has no value. The clean sheet is a collective work, from the coach to the striker to everyone on the bench. We are all here to defend Inter and it is an honor for me to be the goalkeeper of this club.”

Finally, he asked for more respect to be shown towards Inter for their UCL exploits.

“We deserve more respect in Europe because we sent Barcelona to the Europa League and we emerged from a complicated group. We have shown that we are a strong team. I want to win everything.”

Inter resume their season against Fiorentina, before traveling to Juventus for the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg.
