Prime Russell Westbrook is back. The LA Clippers’ point-guard had himself a night in the Clippers 141-132 win over the Grizzlies. The former Laker was 5/5 from the 3-point line, scoring a season-high 36 points and dished out 10 assists. Thursday night was also the origin story for the NBA’s biggest feud:Russell Westbrook vs. Dillon Brooks.
The Clippers guard and Grizzlies forward went at each other all night. With, at one point, Westbrook clearly yelling at Brooks “trash”, three times. At the end of the game, an amped up Westbrook also told the Grizz star to “go home”, as refs made sure both maintained their distance.
The Westbrook vs Brooks feud will continue on Friday
Both players will need to keep their cool, as they will face each other again on Friday night. The repeat matchup at FedExForum will have fans at the edge of their seats to see what happens. The Grizzlies have already clinched their division and a playoff berth, but the Clippers, at 41-36, need to keep winning in this final stretch.
After the game, Russ told reporters they key to his season-best performance: “My mindset never changes. My role may change, but my mindset doesn’t.” The Clippers guard has finished past seasons on a strong note: “It’s that time of the year, and I’m going to let people know,” Russell Westbrook said emphatically.
