Indian batter Shivam Dube played down comparisons with Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar, saying that he is his only competition. He also made a bold remark and said that he’s eyeing a place in the Indian squad for the ICC World Cup 2023.
Shivam Dube was amongst the key players behind Chennai Super Kings (CSK) winning the 5th Trophy in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The lanky all-rounder looked completely different from what he used to be earlier as he played some magnificent knocks.

Shivam Dube, who was exceptional in IPL, is eyeing a spot in the Indian team for the World Cup 2023, which is slated to take place in India this year. Although the selection is not in his hands, he will focus on his performances. Speaking to Mykhel, he said:
“Yes. Of course (eyeing a place in India’s World Cup squad). Every player wants to play in a World Cup, more so when it’s happening in India. But I can only focus on my own performances, the rest is up to the selectors.”

Shivam Dube is often compared to Hardik Pandya, Vijay Shankar, and Venkatesh Iyer. The other three also had good seasons in the league. And when asked about the competition with the other three, the CSK all-rounder said:
“No. I am my only competition. I don’t look at other players. I train every day to become better than I was the day before.”
Shivam Dube last played for India in February 2020. He has played 1 ODI and 13 T20Is so far. In the shortest format of the game, he has scored 105 runs at a strike rate of 136.36 and also has picked 5 wickets.
